A slower hour —
Breathe in the middle of the week
Wednesday nights in the Little Chapel are deliberately simple: candles lit, one psalm read slowly, a short reflection, prayers for our city and one another, and communion shared around the table. No band, no screens, no rush — forty-five minutes that reset the week.
Many who come are carrying something heavy: an illness, a redundancy, a strained relationship. You don't need to explain yourself. Sit, listen, receive the bread and wine, and let yourself be prayed for — or simply be still.
The shape of the evening
Gather in silence (7:00). Doors open at 6:45 with candles and quiet piano. Come in, sit down, breathe.
Psalm and reflection (7:10). One psalm, read twice, with a ten-minute reflection from a member of the ministry team.
Prayers and communion (7:25). Open prayer for Hawkridge and the world, then bread and wine for all baptised believers — and a blessing for everyone else.
Prayer ministry after the service
Two trained prayer ministers stay behind every week. Whatever you bring — grief, anxiety, gratitude — they will listen and pray with you in confidence. Prefer to write it down? Leave a card in the basket or send a prayer request online.
